Founded in 1985 in Hsinchu Science-Based Industrial Park, Episil was the first Epitaxial Process factory in Taiwan. Today the company has over 1400 employees and a total capitalization of about US$100 million. Episil's orientation toward low-volume production of a wide array of products gives us the flexibility to focus on meeting customers' needs. Special production processes ensure that epitaxy's needs for high device density, fast-switching, and high power loading are met. Our products are extensively used in power devices, Bipolar and BiCMOS devices, and so on. Through these technologies, Episil has created a unique business advantage among semiconductor foundries, and for many years has been a leader in Taiwan. According to Garter Dateguest statistics, Episil is the largest supplier to the Asian market (excluding Japan).

Because of its outstanding performance with epitaxial technologies, Episil, in 1992, expanded its business in the contract production of silicon wafers, establishing in Taiwan the world's first specialized bipolar IC foundry model. In 1996, Episil began offering Power MOSFET contract production. Currently the company is Taiwan's leading example of dedicated foundries in these areas. In this market, traditionally dominated by large foundries, Episil early on established a stable competitive niche among many similar players, steadily increasing market share year by year, and from 1999 continuously expanded it's production capacity. Currently, besides its one Epitaxy fab, the company also owns two 5-inch and one 6-inch wafer fabs, making Episil the small-sized wafer foundry in Taiwan with both the greatest market value and highest development potential.
